Nostalgia. People love getting back to the past and seeing what sort of amazing things were there. What's old is new again, and that includes retro-inspired RPG adventures. The Folio is running a Kickstarter campaign for a trio of retro-inspired RPG adventures for either 5th edition, but also classic AD&D.
Ancient Greece. The multitude of islands out in the Mediterranean all had their own myths and legends associated with them. Syrins on one. Minotaurs on another. Cyclopses on another. And it's into this this world that players find themselves in Agon, a new fantasy RPG that takes its inspiration from ancient myths. The game is up on Kickstarter now.
The Marvel Champions card game was one of the big announcements from Fantasy Flight during Gen Con. It seems so long ago, but we're still a bit out from the release, and I'm sure plenty of players out there want to know more about how the game works. Well, that's exactly what you're getting in this preview. See how the Player Phase works in this new cooperative card game.
While the Normandy invasion, known as D-Day, obviously took place in a very specific part of the world, the ramifications of it spread out to all corners of the globe. Soon, all the world will be recreating it as Battlefront launches their D-Day Global Campaign for Flames of War at the end of October. Read on to find out about this new campaign event.
Time again for some new releases from Privateer Press. Though they're moving to a new location, that doesn't mean that you have to continue to wait for some figures. If you're the religious type, these releases are for you, as there's the Morrowan, Menite, and Primal Archons available for Warmachine and Hordes. If you're into something more skirmish-sized, you can pick up either (or both) of the new Riot Quest figures that are now out.
We're getting to the end of 2019. There's still some months to go, and the holidays will be here sooner than you think. If you're looking to snag some of the games coming soon from Plaid Hat, you'll want to check out this update. They've posted when you can expect their next bunch of releases to be hitting store shelves.
While aircraft were used in WWI, they were still fairly experimental. Humans had only learned to fly a handful of years earlier. By the time WWII rolled around, aviation technology had advanced quite a bit from where it'd left off. These new releases for Blood Red Skies gives you a chance to pick up some early Soviet aircraft from right when the war was taking off (no pun intended... maybe).
The new Campaign Expansion for Star Wars: Armada is now available from Fantasy Flight Games. The Empire and the Rebellion's massive fleets clash all over the galaxy, including the outer rim. The Rebellion hopes that the Empire's relatively light grasp will give them an advantage while the Empire looks to increase their holdings.
We're just a day away from my favorite month: Orktober! Games Workshop is wasting no time at all. They've already got a new Battletome for Age of Sigmar available to order for the green brutes (sure, they're calling them "Orruk"s now, but I'm not falling for it) up on their website. Oh, and if you want some puny oomies, they've also got Cities of Sigmar. And, as usual, there's different bundles and editions if you're into that kind of things.
Gamers, from what I have found through my observation, enjoy drinking. Nothing wrong with it if done responsibly, of course. And said responsible drinking can certainly involve a game. Drinking With Dragons is one such game. Just shuffle the deck, get some of your favorite libations and friends, and you're ready to go. The game is up on Kickstarter now.
Sinopa Publishing has been running a Patreon campaign where their backers can get some really cool content for your D&D games. They've already published one Omnibus and they're looking to create a second, heading to Kickstarter in order to get it done. There's some really need items in there, from different sorcerers to monsters and more. Have yourself a look-see.
A GM can never have enough resources at their disposal. That is my honest opinion. Even if they don't use things verbatim, they can take those offerings and adapt them to their own uses. That's where having a new monster book comes in, and that's what you're getting with Scarred Lands: Creature Collection, a book ~140 new monsters that you can throw at your 5th Edition adventuring group. The book is up on Kickstarter now.
<whoop! whoop! whoop!>
You kow what that means. It's a Giant Robot Alert. And, considering we're talking about Pacific Rim: Extinction, it's not just a single giant robot or two, it's a whole mass of them, along with huge monsters for them to fight. If you've been waiting (patiently or otherwise) for the kaiju-fighting action to begin, your wait is now over. You can pick up your copies from your LGS or online now.
It's the weekend... almost. Half a day and then we're there (for me at least). D&D tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to see what happened in that house after I tried to convince a cultist to burn it all down by impersonating her god... as you do. But before I can see what went on there, I need to munch on some bite-sized gaming stories.
Today on the platter we have: New Storm Scythes Available From Puppets War and New Dice Sets Available From Kraken Dice.
The Cha'alt megadungeon is a little bit different in theme and flavor than most. So, your average, everyday character might not really fit in with it all so well. But don't be afraid. The folks over at Kort'thalis Publishing have a solution. They've created Cha'alt Pre-Generated, a book of 27 pre-made PCs that perfectly fit the style, theme, and tone they're going for. Either use them as-is, or use them as a basis for your own character. Whatever you choose. You can pick up your copy now.
The German war machine was churning out gear at a very high rate before the Allies invaded Normandy. Different weapons of war, as well as different specialized units were stationed all along the coast, making sure that nothing could get in. For your Flames of War games, Battlefront is helping bolster Fortress Europe with some more German releases.
As they get closer to the launch of the Zombicide 2nd Edition Kickstarter, CMON has been looking back on Zombicides of the past and seen what each of those sets brought to the game. In this final installment, we head to the deep reaches of space and planet PK-L7, where the intrepid Survivors face off against an otherworldly foe in Zombicide: Invader.
Want to fill your day with gaming info? Are you playing in or soon to be playing in a Dungeons & Dragons game? Just interested in the system? If you answered "yes" to any of these, you should check out Dragon+ issue 27. It's available now for your downloading and reading pleasure.
The White Scars are well-known for their speed with which they head into battle. None of the white-clad brethren want to just have to walk their way to victory. They employ all manner of vehicles. One such is the Kyzagan Assault Speeder, which you can order now over in the Forge World webshop.
The forces of the evil Swarm Lord are trying to take over the galaxy. Only a handful of valliant heroes are ready to stop their nefarious advances, but the going won't be easy. That's the story behind Meeple Force, a new dexterity-based game that's up on Kickstarter now. Flick your heroes across the board, completing objectives and taking out the enemy.
A new government has taken over in China. They are looking to impose their will on the people, but the peole are also trying to silently fight back, looking to maintain their way of life. It's into this world that you find yourself in Manchukuo, a new worker placement game that's up on Kickstarter now. Can you continue to train your students in peace and quiet?
The Carnival's in town. Or, should I say, the Carnivals are in in town. Seems that more than one have showed up, and now they're competing to see who will attract the most customers. That's your goal in The Grand Carnival, new tile-laying, resource management game that's up on Kickstarter.
I know, sort of vague headline, but that's because this isn't a Design Diary about any particular game, but games in general. Fantasy Flight sat down with some of their designers and asked them about their first designs they ever did, and ask about what they learned from those early creations.
We're getting there, everyone. It's getting closer to the weekend. I know I'm excited for it. Are you? Of course you are. And as we continue towards the weekend, we need to make sure everyone's gaming tables look good.
Quick Terrain Corner again for you today: New Scorched Sky Game Mat Available From Deep-Cut Studio
Ever since Skirmisher Publishing ran their successful City Builder Kickstarter campaign, they've been wanting to go back to all of their previous City Builder products and update them. That process has now begun, as they've gone back to Communities, the first in their City Builder line, and spruced it up to bring it in line with the way they're working on those books now.
