Along with all the awesome Star Wars stuff that Fantasy Flight has announced, there's a quartet of Runewars releases now available. There's something for everyone, with a release for each faction. So if you've been wanting something new, now's your chance.

Part of me wanted to channel the Star Wars Holiday Special and have the opening to this story be nothing but grunts, hoots, roars, and howls, but I eventually decided against it. Instead, I'll just let you know that Fantasy Flight has announced a pair of wookie releases for Star Wars: Legion. One's the Wookie Warriors unit, and the other is the most-famous wookie there is, (oooooooooooh) Chewbacca! (What a wookie!)

With the new edition of the X-Wing Miniatures Game coming, the Resistance and the New Order are breaking off into their own factions. No longer simply part of the Rebels and the Imperials, respectively, these new factions are in need of a bit of a leg-up in defining what makes them unique and not just a sub-set of a previously larger set of ships. Fantasy Flight has new Conversion Kits coming that'll help you sort that all out. Also, a new Scum & Villainy variant of the TIE is up for preview.

Every ship needs a captain. Same can be said for a Guild Ball team. In this case, the two are the same person. Windfinder is the Navigator's Guild captain both aboard the ship and on the pitch. The captain also tends to define how the team works. So, how do the Navigators work? Let's take a look.

The Greek gods are well-known for having offspring. Semi-divine followers on Earth whose powers and abilities led them to complete mighty deeds. Now, you can have these characters fight for you in WarGods of Olympus, as Crocodile Games has released a whole set of them into their webshop.

It's August. And I know that this month is still summer, but... I mean, they're already selling Reese's Pumpkins at my Kroger (and have for 2 weeks now). I've got the doors and windows open because it's only supposed to get into the upper 70s here today, and I've put on my Type O Negative station on Pandora. It's autumn, as far as I'm concerned. And as the season for tricks and treats gets started (for me, anyway), let's get you some bite-sized gaming stories as well.

Today on the platter we have: Get a Free Mystery D20 Pin From Kraken Dice, Brigade Models Releases New Squadron Commander Models, and New Captured Princess Model Available From Brother Vinni.

A whole new batch of releases are available over at Zenit Miniatures, and they're bringing out the big guns, literally. The far East was the first place that gunpowder was used in a military setting, and those big booms are coming to Kensei. There's two different cannons, along with several other new figures you can pick up.

While the Rebellion might've started out as just a rag-tag group of individuals fighting against the Empire, they've become a fighting force that, while they can't match the Imperial's numbers, they can certainly match their skill. The Rebel Commandos are elite troopers, trained in small-squad tactics and able to perform surgical strikes on enemy positions. Check out their rules for Star Wars: Legion.

Sports, generally speaking, are meant to be played as a tourney or as part of a league. You have your event or season, and the teams play games/matches against each-other over the course of it. For Guild Ball, that was the Big League, originally released in Season 2. Well, the game has changed quite a bit since then, and now Steamforged is updating the Big League for Season 4.

Two recent factions are getting things this release wave from Privateer Press. The Crucible Guard, the brand-new alchemist faction has a trio, including Combat Alchemists, the Dragon's Breath Rocket Launcher, and the Liberator light warjack. Then, sneaking its way in there, is the Hollow Holden attachment for the Grymkin. Kinda out of nowhere with that one.

Knight Models has a huge batch of releases for the Batman and DC Universe Miniatures Games. There's classics like Poison Ivy, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, and The Falcone Crime Family, among others. Also King Shark, because we just passed Shark Week. They are also taking orders for their show-exclusive miniatures, which include Batman (Nightmare) and Luna Lovegood in her lion hat.

It's hot out. Ridiculously hot. Dangerously hot. It was also dangerously hot outside during the North Africa campaign during WWII. Though the danger was as much from enemy snipers and artillery as it was the heat. Warlord Games is taking us back to those desert offensives with their latest Bolt Action releases, including a new Western Desert book and special pre-order model.

Games Workshop is bulking up both of their latest games with this week's pre-releases. For those that have picked up Kill Team, there's some new starter sets, including Tyranids and the Imperium (plus loads and loads of new dice. #NoSuchThingAsTooManyDice). For those that are going along with the new edition of Age of Sigmar, both the Stormcast Eternals and the undead are getting new releases, including a new version of the legendary Black Coach.

The French are fighting hard in WWIII. They're heading to the front lines and rolling out all new equipment in the fight. These new releases are available for Team Yankee from Battlefront. You've got some new helicopters, new APCs, a new box set, and even some theme tokens for your troops.

The folks over at Battlefront are taking a whole bunch of new pre-orders for Flames of War. They've got the Enemy at the Gates and Iron Cross products over on their website, and if you want to get them as soon as they're available, being the first gamer on your block with them, you'll want to head over now and put your name down on the list. They've also got a list of all the releases coming out for the next couple months that you can check out.

It's coming up to the end of the month. July will soon be gone. But that doesn't mean that there's no time left for July releases. In fact, Corvus Belli has just posted up their July releases for Infinity. Go on and check them out.

The Virai are the latest faction for Beyond the Gates of Antares. So they've got a little catching-up to do in terms of unit numbers. Warlord Games is looking to fix that, as there's several new sets you can order from them now. Gotta pump up those numbers. Those are bio numbers.

In every Minor Guild, there's two players that can work with the Major Guild the team's tied to. Fathom is one of the two for the Navigator's Guild, being able to play up to the Fisherman's Guild, my personal favorite Guild. On that team, Angel is one of my favorite players, and almost always hits the pitch when I play. So, when I see that Fathom works very well with Angel, I'm like, "yes. This is a thing that pleases me." Check out all she can do in this new preview.

The Year of New Editions rolls onward. This time, a favorite miniatures game is getting an update. It's Wyrd Games and their flagship, Malifaux. It's moving to version 3.0, and they're looking now for people to be part of the Closed Beta for it. Check out some of what's been changed and see how you can sign up to help steer the course of this new version.

Fantasy Flight has a new preview up for Runewars. This time, it's the Kethra A'laak, the Ynfernael Mistress of the Uthuk Y’llan. She's got both a mounted and on-foot version. But really, who wants to have to walk into battle?
You can check her out below.
(cue up the "wait, they're still making that game?" comments) :P

The latest season of Guild Ball is coming up in just a couple months. With the new season comes new changes to the game. In the ongoing effort to make Guild Ball the best game that it can be, the developers continue to tweak and tinker with various rule wordings, mechanics, and certain design philosophies. In this preview, we get a look at allocating Influence, some terrain, and 0-cost Character Plays.

In the first Star Wars movie, there's only two Imperial fighters that we see. We get the standard TIE Fighter and the special, advanced version that Darth Vader flies. That's the TIE Advanced. It's got shields and a hyperdrive, along with many other advancements (ooooh, now I get the name). But Vader's wasn't the only one produced. You could have a whole squadron of them, including in the X-Wing Miniatures Game. We get a look at the 2nd edition version of the ship in this preview.

Is it just me or, despite how fast it's felt it's gone by, July seems to be just keeping around, too? There's still about a week left of it to go, but that just means there's still plenty of time for the July releases for Eden from Happy Games Factory. This batch of releases includes the starter set for a new faction, the Matriarchy White Order.

We all know my love of miniatures that really aren't so "miniature." And while giant robots might be my favorite, lizards and other monsters are right behind. So, seeing the huge new Hydra miniature from Crocodile Games certainly gets my attention. You can get yours now.
