Miniatures Game

I feel this post could be titled, "Warlord Games Releases Everything" and it wouldn't be that far off. They've got new releases for Konflikt '47 and Bolt Action, as well as extending their Strontium Dog line with new pre-orders. So let's get to them. It's not a short list.

A lot of this could theoretically go in today's Terrain Corner as well, but we'll get to that. Games Workshop has started taking orders for Kill Team. What is Kill Team? Basically skirmish-sized 40k. Don't want to get your huge-ass army out every time? Grab an elite core of minis and go at it in the tight spaces on the table. There's a starter box, main rulebook, some other starter sets. Just lots of stuff to get you going.

Warmachine's latest faction, the Crucible Guard, are hitting battlefields the world over. The starter army and a little more was released last week, but it's time to bulk up your forces some more. The new Heavy Warjack kit, as well as a new unit and command attachment are ready to head to war.

When it comes to World Wars, the French have had a rather tough time at it. Usually one of the first countries singled out for attack, they've had to twice fight off enemy troops from within their borders. They're looking to make sure that WWIII isn't a repeat, and have the arms, equipment, and troops to make sure that this time, it's closer to a Napoleonic War than a World War. New releases are now available for the French in Team Yankee. Battlefront has also created painting templates to make sure you get your figures looking accurate.

The Navigator's Guild is the minor guild for the Fisherman's Guild in Guild Ball (Guild! Guild! Guild! Guild! Guild! Have I typed it enough now?). They are the first team that will be released under Season 4 rules. So, getting a preview of their stats, we get a bit of a look at how Season 4 will work along with it. In this first preview, we check out Horizon. Don't let the front of the card confuse you, the back's where it's at.

Good lord, Gen Con's damn-near here. And along with the seemingly billion of other things to get done, don't forget to pencil in time to get your pre-orders in over on Corvus Belli's website for your Infinity and Aristeia. Then, you'll just have to go to the booth and pick 'em up. Saves a bit of time so you can run off to the next booth and get the awesome things there.

The bears are back in town.
Or at least, they're making their way to town. The Minimoto Clan is coming to Bushido, and you can pick up the first couple items now from GCT's webshop. The pre-order includes the starter, a couple support packs, and the Theme Card Pack. Orders will start to ship from August 1st.

As I mentioned before, it's another Year of New Editions. This one's a bit more of a blast from the past, Monsterpocalypse from Privateer Press. I remember when the original game came out at Gen Con and people were snapping it up left and right. We'll see if that happens at the re-release this Gen Con. In preparation for it, Privateer has posted the game's rulebook that you can check out.

A couple years ago, I had a whole thing about a "year of new editions" as various games were getting updates. I really should've been doing that this year, too. X-Wing, Pathfinder, Age of Sigmar all got new editions, just to name a few. Another game that's upping the edition number this year is Guild Ball. It's coming this fall, and seeing as it's so soon, Steamforged has posted up their first preview of what we can expect.

Besides the Star Destroyer, the most iconic ship in the entire Imperial fleet has got to be the standard TIE fighter, or TIE/ln for you that prefer such nomenclature. The "eyeball" was the main ship used by Imperial fighter pilots. Fast, maneuverable, and easy to build, what they lacked in shields, they made up for in being able to swarm the enemy. With the new edition of X-Wing coming out from Fantasy Flight, it's time to take a look at how this ship will be changing.

We've gotten quite a few previews of upcoming releases for Runewars that were monsters, or some elves, or some undead. It feels like it's been a while since the humans have gotten anything new for Runewars. Well, that ends... well... soon, as the Outland Scouts will be making their way to tabletops in the near future.

With the latest edition of Age of Sigmar hitting tabletops, new players are looking to expand their armies. Those that picked up the new starter box have their choice of the Nighthaunt or the Stormcast Eternals. This week's new pre-orders add to both of those factions, giving you more options for your tabletops.

Strontium Dog is the latest minis game from Warlord Games. It delves back into the world of 2000 AD, and all the strange sorts of things that, uh, happened therein. You can order the rulebook, as well as various minis kits, plus markers and dice. Because everyone loves dice.

The Cyclops is one of the great monsters of ancient times. WarGods is a miniatures game all about the great monsters of ancient times. So, it only seems appropriate to have Cyclopes miniatures in the game. So that's what Crocodile Games has done. You can pick up these massive minis now.

Stonegate Forge is looking to add to their miniatures skirmish game, Shatterlands. They originally had the game successfully funded on Kickstarter, so they're headed back again, with new minis, new terrain tiles, and more. Head on over and check it out.

The Blacksmith's Guild is unlike any other Guild in Guild Ball. They don't have a dedicated Captain. They don't have mascots. It's just pairs of Masters and Apprentices. But even with time, not all Apprentices become Masters immediately. Some have to work at it. In this case, we get a look at Veteran Cinder, who is still an Apprentice in the Guild.

Gen Con is, like, right friggin' around the corner. Geeze... Anyway, that realization (that I'm having at least a couple times each day) aside, another thing that's near is the release of X-Wing 2nd Edition. And if you'll be at Gen Con, it'll be your first chance to officially play the new set, as some will be available for purchase. Also, you can participate in a 2nd Edition tourney.

Is it October yet?
*checks calendar* Damn.
That's my favorite month. Chill mornings. Bright colors. And all the candy I can shove into my face. Oh, and besides those treats, Privateer Press has a whole bunch of stuff they're giving you as well. Check 'em out.

Few figures in the Star Wars universe are more feared than Emperor Palpatine. His rise to power was dramatic. He caused the Jedi to be almost completely wiped out. He may seem frail, but he's still quite an imposing figure in battle, and he has a keen strategic mind. So, with that all together, you can see why he'd make a great figure for your games of Star Wars: Legion. But, of course, he's not alone. His crimson Royal Guards are there, too. We get a look at both in these previews.

A new expansion is now available for Secrets of the Third Reich. It's called Dossier X-01, and it's chocked full of new units of all types for your games. But not just rules, West Wind Productions has a whole batch of new miniatures that are available as well. And West Wind is celebrating by giving you a free figure of your choice when you make a qualifying order! Who doesn't love free stuff!?

There's just all sorts of conventions coming up in the next couple months. And DGS Games is ready for them. They'll be at Gen Con, and they'll also be at Reapercon. For both, they're going to have new figures. In this preview, we get a look at the Wandering Wizard, a Reapercon release.

The headline for this article gets an F, obviously. Fantasy Flight is showing off the new Fang Fighter for X-Wing. While most of the populace only knows the Mandalorians by Boba and Jango Fett, there's much more to this warrior race. That includes a space force with the Fang Fighters as a major part of the armada.

Wyrd Games loves to do special boxes and alternate minis during big events, and Gen Con is one of the biggest events in the gaming year. They've posted up a preview of this year's Gen Con Nightmare Box. It's goblins... and horsies. Small horsies.

For the month of July, Battlefront will be having a sale going on for their NVA Regular army figures for 'Nam, their Vietnam miniatures game. You can get these figures for 25% cheaper than you'd usually have to spend, so why not check it out?

GCT Studios' Bushido is getting a bear clan.
Yes, I am excited. Thank you for asking. They're the Minimoto Clan, and we get another preview of what they'll be all about over on GCT's website.
