Painting

We're already halfway through the week. Having Monday off certainly helps with that. But as we continue our way through the week, I know I could still use a bit of a pick-me-up. So I'm going to nosh on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: RPG Player Kits Up On Kickstarter, Miniature Mentor Releases Basing Volume 5 with Fabrizio Russo, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm August Releases Arrive at PicoArmor, New 28mm WW2 character models from Stoessi's Heroes, New Legionary Maces Available from Kromlech, Really Useful Box Conversion Kits Available from Sally 4th, and New Female Genie Miniature Available From Brother Vinni.

If you'd not heard, Gen Con is next week.
Yeah, I know, right?!
Anyway, Ninja Division has posted up their plans. And it's quite a lot. They've got new product. They've got a painting contest. They're going to have special guests at their booth. It's a ton of stuff. Check it out.

Tanks!
"You're welcome!"
There's certainly plenty of heavy metal vehicles making their way through Forge World's pipeline. They've got the new Legion Sicaran Arcus Strike Tank, a bunch of upgrade kits for Predator tanks, a Relic Datalink Telemetry set, as well as Imperial Armour Model Masterclass Volume One available to order over in their webshop this week.

A bit all over the map with this week's set of pre-orders from Forge World. In one corner, we've got a new armored vehicle for 40k, particularly the Sisters of Silence. In another corner we've got a Blood Angels Legion Transfer Sheet. And, in the final corner, there's some Iron Hill Dwarves armed with crossbows.

It feels like a short week, but it's certainly been a busy week. Yesterday, got pulled aside for a vital project before the A Song of Ice and Fire Miniatures Game Kickstarter launches later this month. That was a cool couple of hours. But yeah, just been busy all-around. Ready for that weekend! Gonna be making some dark-chocolate-orange confections (cookies, candy sticks, and candied orange peel) over the weekend. ... Might make some gumbo, too. Haven't gotten that far ahead. But when making that stuff, I should fill up on some bite-size gaming stories, so I don't eat all the cookie dough or something.

Today on the platter we have: Red Republic Games Previews Special Arena Rex Dice, Everlasting Wet Palette Coming To Kickstarter, The Board Game Table Mat by Tabletop Companion Now Available, Final Day for DeepWars Kickstarter Campaign, dice.run Dice Rolling Tool Up Online, and Brigade Models release 6mm Combat Cars.

Wyrd Games is known for running various painting contests throughout the year. They've launched another one over on their website. If you're a pro at slinging the colored goo around, you might just want to check it out. You could win some Wyrd store credit for yourself.

I am no painting pro, as I mentioned in the post about Privateer hiring a painter. Well, I'm also not able to get to Russia. So there is absolutely no chance that I'm going to be winning the Mint Dragon Painting Contest, which is being held in Russia. But if you are able to get there and you're good at painting, you might just want to check it out.

It's here, ladies and gentlemen. Friday. Gateway to the weekend. The work week is almost over and we just need to push through these last few hours and we'll be free. Hopefully you've got some plans put together. Mine have solidified, with some chill card gaming tonight with a friend while we make sliders and eat gourmet popcorn (as you do). Then, tomorrow, it's helping a friend move some stuff with gaming afterward (hopefully Guild Ball, but we'll see). But if we're going to make it there, we should fill up on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: Acheson releases 28mm Pewter Grizzly Bear, Brigade Models Releases New 6mm Humans and Aliens, and The Army Painter Updating and Rereleasing Battlefield Tufts Line.

Well, this has been quite a week. Monday had the site down for reasons that are still not 100% identified (it blipped again a little earlier today, but was once more fixed by our outstanding IT guy, Lucas). Tuesday was busy playing catch-up. Plus, there's been article-writing and such behind-the-scenes for other stuff around here. Just a busy week. I know I could use some extra energy. And I think a bunch of bite-size gaming stories can do that very thing.

Today on the platter we have: Khurasan starts 15mm Late 14th Century Range, Acheson adds 28mm Gorillas, Love Formula Coming To Kickstarter This Month, Game Master Digital GM Tools Up On Kickstarter, New Quickshade Washes Available To Order From The Army Painter, Killbox Games New Releases and Kickstarter News, Khurasan releases new 15mm undead/evil wizard sets, English Version of Master of the Galaxy Coming to Kickstarter, The Component Collector Up On Kickstarter, and New Dvergr Commandos Available From Kromlech.

Gen Con is just a couple months away.
...Holy hell! Gen Con's only a couple months away!!! *cough* ... yes, anyway, well, at the show, Ninja Division is going to be running their Golden Kobold painting competition. Grab your paints and brushes, it's time to show that you're one of the top painters in the land.

The week of "getting back to usual" continues along. Of course, we'll get back off schedule a little, since it's a 3-day weekend here in the States. But still, good to be on schedule while you can. But, seeing as we're getting ready for a 3-day weekend, that means we should be fully-powered up on gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: New Skull Wound Markers Available From Kromlech, Last days for bargain deal at EZPainter, Chibi Giants & Swarms Fantasy RPG Miniatures Up On Kickstarter, Acheson Creations Releases Short-Faced Bear Mini, and Final Week For Archmage Origins Up On Kickstarter.

Woo!
We've made it back to Friday. We all know my love of today. But it's not just any Friday. It's International Tabletop Day Eve. Yes, tomorrow we celebrate our hobby all over the world. Hopefully you're planning on going out and celebrating. Many LGSs and gaming clubs have festivities planned. Be sure to check with yours and see what's going on. And if you're going to be doing all that gaming, you should be well-fed. So let's nosh on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today we have: New 3D Printable Tanks by 3DWargaming, Dark Sword Miniatures' Stephanie Law Masterworks Expansion Up On Kickstarter, Blackwater Gulch Pledge Manager closing May 1st, Runewars Miniature Game Official Army Painting Guides Available From The Army Painter, and RBJ Games' Significant Seven Kickstarter Reaches Funding Goal.

The week rolls along, just as the thunder outside rolls along.
I have to say, obviously I hope that everyone stays safe and there's no property damage, but at the same time, the Midwesterner in me is going, "Squeee! Thunderstorms! Yay!"
I miss the storms that'd roll through Kansas and Missouri back when I lived there.

Anyway, as long as lightning doesn't knock out the power or internet, let's get you a platter full of bite-sized gaming stories.

Today we have: Final Hours for Frazetta Miniatures on Kickstarter, The Drowned Earth comes to Kickstarter April 16th, New Miniatures For Lance & Laser Available, New Sizes of Crystal Fields Bases Available From Tabletop-Art, EZPainter April Special Happening Now, Legends of the Colosseum 28mm Miniatures Up On Kickstarter, and New Legionary Heavy Heat-Ray From Kromlech.

Spring has sprung. Soon, the Easter Bunny will be hopping on down the lane, hiding eggs.
*sniffsniffs*
Whew! Those eggs are smellin' kinda ripe already!
Oh, it's just the limited edition Easter Fangtooth model that's going to be available during Steamforged's Spring Sale. They're also running a painting competition on their website.

Last weekend, the Crystal Brush Awards were held at Adepticon. I certainly wasn't in danger of winning them. And I'm probably not in danger of winning the new TMNT: Shadows of the Past Hobby Challenge that IDW Games has launched over on their website.

So you've got a bunch of Flames of War, Bolt Action, or some other WWII game's miniatures sitting around. You've been meaning to get them painted, but you've never gotten around to it. Well, to help out, EZPainter is having a sale on all WWII commissions for the next couple days.
Discuss
Adepticon has many fine tournaments and contests that take place over the course of the show. But only one of them gives away $10k to the winner. That's the Crystal Brush Awards, the culmination of a year-long painting contest process that ends up in Chicago. Well, the overall winners have been announced, and we're here to give them to you.

Hey kids. We have made it. It's Friday at last. This certainly has been an eventful week. It's also gone by quickly, at least for me. I hope everyone at Adepticon is having a good time. If you're not there, I still hope you have a weekend of gaming planned. And if you're going to be gaming all weekend, you should power up on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: Advanced Deployment's Adepticon Sale Happening Now; Desert Rats Paint Set Available From Battlefront; Topside Minis Jutland Sets Released - 1/1800, 1/2400, and 1/3000 scales; Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm March Releases Arrive at PicoArmor; Afrika Korps Paint Set Available From Battlefront; Frazetta Miniatures Reaches Funding Goal; Color Quest Season 1 Reaches Funding Goal; New Quick Shades Washes Set Available For Pre-Order From The Army Painter; and Spring Sale Happening At Dark Art Studios.

I've not painted a mini in years. But lately, I've been kinda wanting to get some colored goop onto my Guild Ball teams. Thing is, I know my skills have certainly atrophied in the time it's been since I last painted. So, if I want my first miniature I do to not be garbage, I should at least read up on some good painting techniques. Thankfully, Figure Painter Magazine is here to help, and issue 43 is available now.

It has been a busy week.
Work has been full of time working on (redacted). I can't wait until I can tell you all about it. Other than that, I'm making pizza tonight. And by that, I mean I made my own sauce from scratch, and the dough ball that will be the crust is currently in the fridge, slowly rising. It'll be brought out when I get home. The only thing I didn't do was cure my own bacon, grind my own Italian sausage, or make my own mozzarella cheese... though I could possibly do those first two, and might at some point. And as for tomorrow, it's Board Game Day at the Milton Library, where I'll be playing Guild Ball and Fujian Trader. Hopefully you have your own gaming plans lined up. With all that going on, it's best to load up on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today we have: Ancestral Ruins Bases 20x20mm and 25x25mm Now Available From Tabletop-Art, Arcane Arts gets a face lift, Zen Bins Destiny Storage Trays Up On Kickstarter, Titan-forge Launches Dragon Empire Kickstarter, More Info Posted About Trollkins Indiegogo Campaign, New Ultimate Barrage Template from Pyrkol, Desert Basing Kit Available From Gale Force Nine, Khurasan releases Oceanic Republic NF range, and New Weekend Promo from Kromlech.

Arguably the biggest painting contest of the year is the Crystal Brush awards that have their finals every March during Adepticon. If you'd like to get free travel to the show, you can do so by winning one of the qualifying events that are held throughout the year. Salute is having a Crystal Brush Qualifier event, and they've posted up the details.

We're making our way there, ladies and gentlemen. The previous weekend is as far from us as the next one is to us. Have you started getting together any plans? We've got the gaming day at the library coming up this weekend. Gonna hang out and play some Guild Ball and hopefully Fujian Trader. But we've still got a couple days to get through, first. So let's stock up on some bite-sized gaming stories.

If you're really into getting your minis looking as good as possible, you'll want to take every opportunity to improve your skills. My skills are incredibly lacking, with my painted minis just north of "well, they don't look like you did it with a paintball gun..." So if you don't want your painting to be like mine, you might want to sign up for SeminART 3 with Chris Clayton.

The middle of the week and the start of a new month. 2017 is already 1/12 in the books. January sure did go by quick (at least for me). Before you know it, we'll be announcing Black Friday sales. Ok, maybe that's a bit much. Plenty of things to do between now and then. And if we want to keep up our strength, we should nosh on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: Mighty Meeples: Ghostbusters Collection Released by Cryptozoic; 4th Edition Preview Flames of War Preview: New Paint Sets, Spray Cans, Token Sets and Gaming Aids; Eye for an Eye: Arena Coming To Kickstarter; Acheson Creations announces two "Big Events" for February 2017; Numenera Audio Collection from Plate Mail Games; The Dragon Tray Up On Kickstarter; Aenor Miniatures Releases New Zombie Survivor; New Line of SCI-FI Miniatures by RBJ Game Company; Dice Base: Master GM Screen Up On Kickstarter; Black Earth tabletop wargame coming on IndieGoGo in February; F'aa'thum, Greater Stygian Wardemon of Fate Available From Kromlech; Baueda New DBA 3.0 Norse Irish Army Pack is Now Available; Elder Dice Coming to Kickstarter; and New Circular Ruler From Micro Art Studio.

My painting skills are lacking. They really are. I've not painted anything of note for some time now. So, that means you don't have to worry about me swooping in and taking the top prize in Mantic's The Walking Dead: All Out War Painting Competition.
