Year 2018

Orktober is almost at an end, but Games Workshop still has some treats to give out. They've started taking pre-orders for the new Ork Codex for 40k. Along with that, there's the new vehicles from Speed Freeks that you can pick up just on their own. Also, there's a whole ton of Ork units and characters that have been bundled together for your convenience.
WAAAGH!!!

Warlord Games only just announced their new naval battles game, Cruel Seas last week. They're now taking pre-orders for this new game over on their website, including various fleets so you can get started right away. Unlike other naval games that are fights between huge battleships and aircraft carriers, Cruel Seas focuses on the myrriad smaller craft that are also involved in warfare on the high seas.

Saturday! Woo! My favorite day of the week. Today, I've got D&D (watch me here if you'd like to see me making a fool of myself :P ). And then, tomorrow, it's been a long time since I really did some baking. I'm thinking I'll make some cayenne pepper dark chocolate brownies and some chili powder chocolate chip cookies. Because that's the type of person I am. Whatever you're doing this weekend, I hope it's awesome. Though I know if you're here now, you're here to check out some reviews.

This week we have: The Bloody Inn: The Carnies Expansion, Processing: A Game of Serving Humanity, Senshi, Evil High Priest, Mesozooic, Volfirion, Countdown Action Edition, Reef, Tokyo Metro, and Codenames XXL.

Thousand Year Old Vampire is a new solo RPG that's up on Kickstarter now. Take over the role of the titular vampire from the very beginning with the loss of their humanity all the way until their end. It's great for those vampire afficionados (I'm looking at you, Suzy) and anyone who might not have an RPG group around and just want to embrace your darker side.

Even in a system that's designed to be rules-light and give players and GMs the tools they need to create their own parts of the game, you're gonna want options. And the players behind the DCC RPG have been nothing if not prolific in their creating. So much so that they've bundled a bunch of it together in the first DCC Annual. It's up on Kickstarter now.

Jingle bears! Jingle bears! Jingle all the bears! *holds up some bells* (jinglejinglejingle)

'Tis the season! *looks at the calendar* ... Uh... well, for Fantasy Flight, 'tis the season, anyway (they are up in Minnesota, after all. And hell, I've already picked up some egg nog from the grocery store and I don't care what you have to say about it). They are running their holiday sale now over on their website.

What's that up in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Superbear?

I wish it was Superbear. Though I doubt anybody wants to see me in a spandex bodysuit. But I can still pretend I'm a superhero in games like Spectaculars, a new superhero RPG that's up on Kickstarter now.

Fridaaaaaaaaaay! Woo!

The weekend is just up ahead. I'll be playing D&D again. Our group finally finished up our last adventure and we're headed onto our next one. Everyone's looking forward to it. So that'll be fun. I hope you've got some gaming lined up as well. And if you're going to be gaming, you'll want to have filled up on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: Modiphius Releases Infinity GM Screen Inserts + Code Infinity PDF, WizKids Releases Icons of the Realms: Spell Effects: Wall of Fire & Wall of Ice, and Infinite Black Running Wooden Elder Dice Chests Giveaway.

While I love Anime, I have to admit, I've not really seen all that much. Sure, I've seen Trigun and Cowboy Bebop and One Punch Man, but not a ton otherwise. However, that doesn't stop me from wanting to play in an RPG set in an anime world. With Kamigakari: God Hunters, I can do just that. The modern anime RPG is up on Kickstarter now.

If regular California wasn't quite doing it for you, why not check out New California. It's the new expansion for the Fallout board game and it's available now. More quests. More companions. More gear. More of the toxic wasteland fun you've come to love.

The Year of New Editions puts another couple tally marks on the wall as two new 2nd edition games are hitting the internet today. One Page Rules has released the new versions of both Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy. Both can be downloaded and played now.

Forge World is digging into 40k lore this week with their releases. They have two Primarch Collections, featuring Vulkan and Corvus Corax. Along with that, the Necrons are getting the huge Seraptek Heavy Construct, along with a couple different weapon loadouts.

Discover: Lands Unknown is truly that. Since each and every box for the game will contain different contents, it's impossible to guess what you might get. So you really are discovering unknown lands whever you open one up. And open them up you can do now, as the game is available from Fantasy Flight and your LGS now.

If there's one thing players want with their characters, it's more options. Especially if they're in a certain land or campaign and they can get things that make that adventure better. That's where the Grim and the Wicked Player's Guide comes in. It's designed to be used with the Grim and the Wicked campaign (as one would expect). There's new races, new archetypes, new classes, and tons more. The book is up on Kickstarter now.

When it comes to skirmish miniatures games, there's a bunch of sci-fi ones. There's fewer, but still a decent number of fantasy ones as well. But if you're looking for modern military, it's a little harder to find. Well, Dishdash Games is helping out with their Ultracombat game. You can check it out on Kickstarter now.

If you're looking to break into the gaming industry, but you don't know where to begin, Privateer Press is looking for a couple people for their team. They're seeking a new Resin Caster as well as a Warehouse Clerk. This could be your big break.

Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door. Well, for these mice, you're definitely gonna need a better mousetrap. I doubt the ones you used to get rid of a little vermin are gonna do the trick. West Wind Productions has released their new Ratlanders for Empire of the Dead.

We're getting there, everyone. It's Thursday, that means it's Friday Eve. That means it's almost the weekend. Just a day and change left to go. If you'll be like me, you'll be doing some gaming. And if you're doing some gaming, you need some good-looking tabletops.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: Baueda Releases new 28mm rolled up tarps, tents, camouflage nets, and ropes; Hagglethorn Hollow Terrain Up On Kickstarter; Loke BattleMats Winding Alleys RPG Encounter Mat Now Available; Blacksmith's Guild Game Mat Available From Deep-Cut Studio; and Woodland Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame.

Battlefront is filling out some more releases over in their webshop for Flames of War this week. As I have said before, just walking into battle is no fun. Better to go in style in some form of transport. And that's what the Germans are getting this time around, with two different APCs, as well as a new scout vehicle.

The Crucible Guard are known for their alchemy. They're a rather technologically-advanced group, even for the factions in Warmachine. They've got some new figures coming, including their Colossal. If you're a fan of "big minis" (as you know I am), you'll want to check it out.

There's more than one version of the classic X-Wing starfighter out there. Incom never quit refining their design, and by the time the galaxy has gotten to the Resistence, they're using the T-70 to take on the New Order. Since the Resistance is now its own faction, that means there's some changes to how the ship works in the game. In this preview, we get a look at just that.

WizKids has a new game out there on the shelves. It's called King's Struggle and it's a trick-taking card game that also includes set collection and negotiation mechanics. Each card has a special power that you can choose to use if you want... or you can sell it for a price.

Warlord Games is expanding their game line once more. This time, they're hitting the waves for Cruel Seas, a WWII naval combat game. Grab your torpedo boats and take your sea-sickness pills. It's anchors aweigh when pre-orders go live soon.

The zombies are attacking! The masses of undead are swarming, and it's up to us to beat them back. But more than mindless shambling husks, these zombies seem to have something directing them. That's what's going on in Ready Set Battle, a new card game that's up on Kickstarter now.

Gaming is good and fun. Helping others is good and fun. Put the two together and you get awesome and amazing. That's just what Nerdsmith is doing with their Nerds Giving event. Want to help out LGBTQ+ Youth? Then you'll want to check out what Nerdsmith is up to.
