Year 2018

It's been a quiet end to the year as TGN staff takes a couple of days to rest and recover from a busy year.

  • Monthly visitors up from 50,000 to 70,000
  • Page load speed down from 6 seconds to 1.5 seconds
  • New search engine for finding the one post you remember from 2018
  • We turned off the Disqus ads that weren't relevant to table top gaming
  • Full mobile and tablet support with a fluid site design
  • Facebook and Twitter posting now happen immediately rather than on a delayed schedule

We're looking forward to jumping in at full speed in 2019. If you have suggestions for things you'd like to see, please send us feedback. Thank you for reading TabletopGamingNews.com!

The folks at Warlord Games are ending the year with a look ahead to next. Their latest WWII games, Blood Red Skies and Cruel Seas are getting some new releases starting in January. If you're looking to add some planes or some ships to your collections, you can get your name on the list now and be the first gamer on your block with these figures when they're released.

It's never too early to get your calendar for conventions put together. If you'll be around the Newark Showgrounds at the start of March, you'll want to stop by the Hammerhead Open Gaming Show.

The year's almost at an end. And while we should reflect on the year that was, we should also look forward to what's coming up next. Battlefront gives us a peek into what they've got in store for Flames of War, Team Yankee, and Tanks with a little teaser video they've put together. Have yourself a look-see.

Fantasy Flight is squeaking out some new releases just before the holidays. If you're looking for a last-minute gift, you can head down to your LGS and pick up two new kits for Star Wars: Legion, including Chewbacca and some of his Wookie friends, get the Mother of Dragons expansion for the A Game of Thrones Board Game, or a new playmat for Arkham Horror.

Ever since Stuffed Fables came out, players have wanted more of the game-book-style game that it had. The next one like that is coming out soon. Comanauts will be hitting shelves on January 31st. Plaid Hat Games has also created a video preview for you to check out.

It's never fun when things go awry with a Kickstarter campaign. Backers want their product they previously paid for and were promised. Unfortunately, sometimes snags happen, such as with Aether Captains and Carrotia from Mage Company. However, they've been working at getting it straightened out, and now they're ready to announce that they've paired up with Quartermaster Logistics to deliver games to backers.

Brother Vinni expands their miniaturs line for SAGA with the release of their new unit of Female Berserkers. Their love for you is like a truck, and they obviously don't get cold easily. As such, I can't actually show you pictures of them, as we keep things PG-13 around here.

This time of year, everyone wants everything to be a little bit more special. The folks at Renegade Game Studios certainly think so, and that's why they've come out with Arboretum: Deluxe Edition. In the cold and snow of winter about to get started (here in the North, anyway), it might be nice to think about walking around a luxurious garden, and that's what you'll be planning in the game.

The folks over at Bad Roll Games are closing out the year with a pair of new releases for Punkapocalyptic. The two new figures are rip-rearin' and ready to go. One has a little baby puppy along with them.

I mean, it's actually a vicious attack dog, but all of them are little baby puppies to me.

It's here, everyone. WizKids has released Mage Knight: Ultimate Edition. It's got everything. The main game. The expansions. The extras. Everything you could want all in one place. You can pick up your copy now.

We're getting closer to the end of the year. It's practically here. Lots of celebrations will be going on, and with them will come plenty of snacks to eat. In this instance, we're getting you some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: More Lizard City Bases Available From Tabletop-Art, DreamForge Games Grav-StuG Kickstarter Coming January 25th, New 54mm Barbarian Available From NonsenseMiniatures, and Kraken Dice Buy 3 Get 1 Free Sale Happening Now.

The invasion of Normandy was one of the most important events in the 20th century. Soon, you'll be able to recreate those pivotal days on your tabletops with Ultracombat Normandy. Dishdash Games is bringing you a new set of miniatures game rules, and you can get the hardcover book, as well as three decks of cards for one special price.

The Red Planet has been in the headlines lately for the new lander we just set on it. Unfortunately, we've yet to find any evidence of a civilization on the planet like there is in the John Carter series of books. However, that doesn't mean you can't vicariously walk around on the planet as part of an RPG. And that's just what you can do in the new John Carter of Mars RPG released by Modiphius. The core rulebook is available as a pdf now.

Corvus Belli is prepping for next year, and all of us should be happy to see what they've been working on. They have a new crop of Infinity releases to bring in the New Year, as well as a new release for Aristeia. Have a look-see for yourself.

Wookies are one of the most fierce races in all of Star Wars. Known for their short temper and penchant for disarming people (literally), they are a powerful asset in the Rebel Alliance's battle plans. Soon, you'll be able to add them to your armies in Star Wars: Legion. Let's take a look.

The king has died. What a bummer. But who will take over ruling the kingdom? Several members of the court have all laid claim, but in the end, only one will rule. That's the story behind Thrown, a new dice game coming from WizKids. Players take on the role of royal hopefuls and must roll the right dice in order to gain gold and win their way to ruling the land.

Be sure to set two more places at the dinner table this holiday season. Avatars of War has a pair of new releases available now over in their webshop. Probably don't want to seat them next to one-another, though.

The works of Robert E. Howard included a multitude of horrifying creatures that Conan had to fight on his many journeys. In Horros of the Hyborian Age, GMs can bring those horros to the tabletops in their Conan RPGs. The pdf version of the book is available now.

The year is near an end, which means it's a perfect opportunity to look forward to next year and the various shows that'll happen throughout the year. If you'll be in or around Seattle at the end of May, you might just want to check out PaizoCon. Tickets are on sale now.

A trio of new releases are available for Alkemy. Head on over to their webshop and pick them up for yourself.

Long-time readers will know that I love it when a company posts their rulebooks online so you can check them out before buying them. Or, even if you've been a player for a while, you can have a pdf version on your portable device to reference when you don't have the book handy. Well, Ares Games has posted the rulebook for Tripods & Triplanes up online so you can check it out.

Skirmisher Publishing is looking to make your holidays that much brighter with their Holiday Festivity Bundle. You can pick up 12 tiles for *checks* ... Yes, for 99% off. That's not a typo. It's actually 99% off. 12 books for a quarter.

And we've swung back around to the beginning and come back to Monday. I guess it's necessary. That whole "time marches on" thing. Might as well make the best of it and make your gaming tables look good.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: Sky of War Game Mat Available From Pwork Wargame, New 15mm Tobruk bunkers from Baueda, and Loke BattleMats add new sizes to Death Wastes rubber backed neoprene tabletop mat range.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday might long be in the past, but that doesn't mean the holiday savings are over. Rebel Minis is running their holiday sale over on their website now.
