Year 2019

"Yippie Kie Yay (can't finish this line because we keep the site PG-13)!" Everyone's favorite Christmas movie will soon be making its way to your tabletops. USAOpoly and Fox have announced that they're working together to create a Die Hard board game. One player takes on the role of John McClane, while the rest become members of Hans Gruber's gang, looking to stop him at any cost.

No, WizKids isn't closing down their game operations and opening up a tree nursery. Though that'd certainly be an interesting change of pace. No, Palm Trees is a new dexterity card game where player's hands represent their palm tree (get it?) and they must grow more fronds and coconuts.

Building a Death Star isn't easy, and not just anybody could be in charge of the project. For the first Death Star, that fell on Director Orson Krennic (not to be confused with the pig from US Acres). He'll soon be making his way to Star Wars; Legion tabletops, and you can get a look at just how he'll work in this preview.

Weird War II is pretty common. There's a couple Weird War I things that I can think of. But you don't often see too many Weird Colonial Times material. So, if you want to play in such a setting, you migth want to check out the Strange New World Gazetteer. It's a new RPG Zine that's up on Kickstarter now.

Discuss

There's another ZineQuest Kickstarter to tell you about. This one is called Time & Tide. It's all about SLA Industries and the work that goes into their games. If you want to read interviews with the creators, you can. If you want a new mall for your players to run around in, you can find that. If you want some fan-created art and fiction, it's in there. The zine is up on Kickstarter now.

GMs on the go need every advantage to keep their games rolling along. Pre-made adventures are perfect for that, as they're usually fairly plug-and-play, being able to be dropped into a campaign as necessary. Thunder of the Thorn is a new adventure up on Kickstarter for 5th Edition. What sort of danger lurks in the deep woods? (all sorts, so it would seem)

Discuss

Back when I first started getting into RPGs, it was only me and my friend that played together. So we'd swap out one being the GM and the other the player. Though we were trying to do full, regular games. It didn't work so well. Unfortunately, we didn't have something like Cut to the Chase, a new 2-player RPG that's up on Kickstarter now.

Tuesday. I don't know about you, but my Monday went by super-fast. Mostly because it was crazy busy. As will today be. And likely tomorrow, too. So, while I busily type my fingertips off, I'll be listening to some gaming podcasts along with it.

This week on the dial we have: All Us Geeks Episode 82: The Geeks Do Battle For Rokugan; The Polyhedron Collider Cast Episode 58: Kingdom Rush, Villianous, Space Base; 40K Radio Episode 39: Dave Taylor Returns!; Anonymous Tabletop Episode 31: What a Load of Crap; Chance of Gaming Episode 26; Meeples & Miniatures Episode 263: Warhammer Underworlds; Blue Peg, Pink Peg Episode 14:3Forum Trajanum; Lords of the Dungeon 25: Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Update and The Opening Announce Game Show; Tabletop Talk Episode 8: Yan Lo (Ten Thunders) in Malifaux 3rd Edition; and Geeks of the North Episode 67: Garbage, hobby and news.

The Spheres of Power books offer a whole range of alternative magic systems for Pathfinder and other d20-based RPGs. Problem is, there's only 20 books out there as part fo that series. Well, now, you can get them all together in one. The Ultimate Spheres of Power book puts them all in one place for you. This weighty tome is up on Kickstarter now.

A lot of the fairy tales that we grew up with and know really are quite cleaned up from the original versions. Grimm Tales of the Wood looks to bring back those original, dark versions, and put you right in the middle of it all. It's a new cooperative card game that will be headed to Kickstarter soon.

It's nice to know when new games are coming out. You can start saving your nickels now and make sure you've got plenty for when the game hits your LGS shelves. Portal Games is letting you know when their next three games will be coming out. So, if you want Detective: L.A. Crimes, Robinson Crusoe: Mystery Tales, or 51st State: Allies, you can find out when they'll be dropping.

I mean, if I could have a dinosaur zoo, I'd have a dinosaur zoo. Who wouldn't? I'm sure there's people out there, but I dont' associate with them, because I don't need that kind of negativity in my life. If you're like me and you want your own dinosaur zoo, then Draftosaurus from Ankama is a game that's right up your alley.

It's an exciting time for space exploration. In the not-too-distant future, we'll most likely have people on Mars. From there, who knows where we might head. Jupiter's moon Europa might be a likely spot. And that's where you'll be headed in Europa Base Alpha, a new game coming from WizKids. Build the biggest and strongest network of bases on the moon to win.

While friends are good and all, sometimes you just gotta battle everyone to the death and see who reigns supreme, y'know? At least, that's what you'll be doing in Kill Your Friends, a new card game that's coming to Kickstarter next month.

The world of Jim Henson's Labyrinth (written by Terry Jones, if you didn't know), is full of mystical wonders.  And soon, you'll be able to play around in it as you please. River Horse has announced that they're making Jim Henson's Labyrinth - The Adventure Game, a new RPG that players can use to create their own stories in that magical land.

Want to be able to try out a new game pretty much before anyone else? Then you'll want to head to NowPlayThis in a couple weeks in Somerset House, London. There, you'll be able to try out MythMash, a new card/board game that really gets your creativity up and running.

In an RPG, you can build your character to be just about anything you want. Many times, players will try their best to recreate a character from a favorite book. Well, in the Storybook RPG, you don't have to try and create a close facsimile of them, you can just make them. Become your characters from your favorite stories. The game is up on Kickstarter now.

Well, it's swung back around to being Monday. Hopefully, your work week won't be too bad, and we can get back to the weekend as quickly as possible. And if we're going to be back at the weekend, and hopefully you'll be doing some gaming this weekend, we should make your gaming tables look good.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: New Motorboat Pens For Cruel Seas From Warlord Games, New Trapdoors Sets Available From Tabletop-Art, New Guild Ball Pitch Available From Deep-Cut Studio, and Thomarillion Running Seven Statues of Rome Kickstarter.

There's a whole world beneath the waves that we land-dwellers can only glimpse briefly. Entire ecosystems of strange creatures, beautiful and mesmerizing live everywhere. In Noctiluca, players look to bring a bit of the deep up onto the land by capturing the glowing life in jars. In this preview, we get a look at just how that will work.

Deep below our feet, a whole other land thrives. Nestled in the dark places of the Earth, a separate ocean, entirely cut off from the outside world, is teeming with life. AntiMatter Games will bid you to explore these waters in ShadowSea and DeepWars, their two miniatures games. In July (get me a jury and show me how to say In July...), each game will be getting a new starter set.

In war, you're going to have soldiers and those that lead them. That's just sort of how that thing works. And the Star Wars saga is filled with wars (it's right there in the title. You were expecting My Dinner With Andre?). In the upcoming Star Wars: Destiny set, Convergence, players will have new soldiers and commanders they can modify their decks with. Let's take a look at some of them.

Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! ... Actually, it is a plane, a whole ton of them. Warlord Games is greatly expanding the aircraft available for Blood Red Skies with six new squadrons available to order. Let's have a look at 'em.

When you've got a group of encounters ready for your party, you wanna end that with a big boss fight. It's not really all that thrilling when you head through a dungeon or evil castle and it all just sort of "pfft" ends. No, you want that climactic battle at the end. That's where There Was a Boss Fight! comes in. It's a new book up on Kickstarter that focuses on encounters that end with, well, a boss fight.

Mysthea: Legends From the Borderlands is a new RPG book that's up on Kickstarters. It uses the Apocalypse World engine and is based on the universe used for Mysthea. A great war is afoot, with the two last kingdoms in the land vying for control. Which side will you be on?
