Watch Albie Fiore and Steve Jackson Play D&D in 1980

The BBC Archive has shared a nostalgic gem on YouTube the Heart of the Matter series. In the clip from 1980, viewers can watch legendary game designers Albie Fiore and Steve Jackson from Games Workshop, delve into the world of Dungeons & Dragons during the early days of the tabletop role-playing scene.

Originally broadcast on May 25, 1980, the clip shows Fiore and Jackson, two key figures in the RPG community. Steve Jackson, co-founder of Games Workshop, would go on to help popularize fantasy gaming in the UK and create his own influential games, including the Fighting Fantasy series. He of course went on to found Steve Jackson Games. Albie Fiore contributed to White Dwarf magazine and helped establish some of the first role-playing scenarios for the UK market.

In the clip, host Peter France investigates the growing fascination with fantasy role-playing games as Fiore and Jackson immerse themselves in a D&D session.
