Tuesday. The work week is fully underway. Have to admit, I've had a very low-gear morning. But I'm getting through it as I make up these posts. I've got some upbeat music going, but I'll soon switch over to some gaming podcasts as I lean into some proofreading in a little bit.
This week on the dial we have: Lords of the Dungeon Episode 38: Online Gaming and Star Trek Adventures; The D6 Generation Pip Episode 43: DnD Live Play: Lost Mine Session 4; The Polyhedron Collider Cast Episode 83: Comic Relief, D&D and Eternal Palace; The Offline Gamer Podcast Episode 50: 50th Episode Quiztacular!; Rolling Dice & Taking Names Episode 198: Nova Luna, King’s Dilemma, Undaunted: Normandy, Feed the Kraken; and Tabletop Talk Episode 74: Malifaux: Dashel Barker (Guild) Deep Dive with Adam and Jesse.
In episode 38, the Lords finally return for a new episode! The gang managed to get at least some recording ability at their homes, and we hope that all of you will bear with us as we figure out this new style of recording. We start off the episode by discussing what we've been doing over the past few months and how we've been gaming. We've started a new Star Trek Adventures and are doing it online first the first time. Then we go into our thoughts of Star Trek Adventures from Modiphius.
Session 4 of our D&D live play episodes featuring our friends from Geek Nation Tours, The Nerdherders Podcast, & Fight In a Box games.
The Covid-19 lockdown may be easing in England, but don’t worry as the boys from Polyhedron Collider are keeping safe and playing even more games online. But we’re not the only ones, as Comic Relief played Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition this week, with references to Boo, Tiger King and bread curses. They’re not the only ones playing D&D 5E as Steve and Andy talk about their initial thoughts on the Dungeons and Dragons Essentials Kit and its adventure The Dragon of Icespire Peak, were we learn that Rory doesn’t like wizards. We also give our first impressions on the Alien Roleplaying Game.
We also venture into some board games, as Steve talks about “Go with extra steps” game Mitropia and Steve and Andy talk about Eternal Palace, the latest dice placement game from Alley Cat Games which is all about creating beautiful works of art.
To celebrate our 50th episode, we've decided to put on a quiz! Joining us for this special occasional are some of our friends, but which one of them knows the most about games?
We tried some virtual gaming in the past two weeks. One is shared out on our YouTube site and you can watch us try and teach Undaunted: Normandy. Thank goodness the designer Dave Thompson joined and help correct our mistakes. What a great experience we had. Also, Marty got in the second scenario and Dave took my place. This game is currently out of stock, but we were informed that it should be back in stores and online in June.
Donna makes an appearance in this show, it has been awhile, probably since we talked about Dizzle. She helps me talk about a new game from Stronghold, Nova Luna. Spoiler, she and I both really enjoyed it and look forward to playing it again.
Marty and I sat down “virtually” with the Scurry Reporters and we tried King’s Dilemma. While nothing against the game, it just wasn’t the same and probably missed some of the experience. Games like this tend to feed off of being in the same room. We look forward to trying it again, problem is it is a legacy game.
Sorry again for the audio issues, hopefully that will not happen again. Also, for the Ewin Chairs that Marty mentions, they have the chairs with a 20% off value now, sure that it is normal price, but the RDTN code works on top of that as well.
