The cover of "Brinkmanship," a chilling Cthulhu Awakens scenario, showcases a figure with a glowing orb on their chest against an abstract red and black backdrop. Published by Green Ronin Publishing, it promises a spine-tingling Cold War horror experience.

Green Ronin Publishing has released a new scenario for Cthulhu Awakens titled Brinkmanship: A Cold War Adventure. This new addition brings players to the year 1965 during the height of the Cold War, adding an intriguing historical twist to the game’s established mythos.

Brinkmanship takes place in Turkey, where CIA Outpost 323 has mysteriously gone silent. Players are enlisted by the Implicit Cartography Group, a covert branch of the CIA, to investigate the outpost’s loss of communication. As the team delves deeper into the mystery, they are confronted with possibilities that include Soviet infiltration, experimental spy activities, and unsettling psychic phenomena.

Set in the broader context of Cthulhu Awakens’ “Weird Century,” Brinkmanship fits within the 100-year narrative that spans from the 1920s to the present. The scenario is designed for characters between levels 3 and 6 but can be adjusted for different levels. Game Masters will find rich opportunities for building longer campaigns based on the mysterious events players uncover at Outpost 323.

The Brinkmanship scenario requires the Cthulhu Awakens core rulebook to play and is available now at the Green Ronin Online Store and DrivethruRPG.
