Clan Tanchyo makes it way to the realm of Crystalia as a new warband for Super Dungeon! Clan boxes feature dynamic and unique sculpts for players' favorite characters. These powerful teams are now playable in Super Dungeon as warbands, Heroes, mini-bosses, and minions! The Tanchyo have close ties to the many spirits of the air and earth that inhabit their forests. They view it as their sacred duty to defend the deep forest from the encroachment of human culture, keeping it pristine for later generations.
From the release:
High atop the peaks of the world, the Star Guild watches the sky. In great choruses the Rock Singers call to the heavens, with the Song of Stars. Their song awakens the spirit of the stars, and draws fragments of starmetal to the earth. In her lifetime a Rock Singer may only ever succeed in calling a few ounces of this precious metal, but with it the guild works wonders.
Occassionally a gnome inventor or miner goes a bit...mad. Lobbing explosive shells and driving over hapless Heroes, these bizzare dungeon bosses bully lesser monsters to collect raw materials for their inventions. This gnomish terror includes treasure, relics, and an extra dose of dungeon mayhem to challenge your adventuring party!
From the announcement:
Hecate Vilehorn was once one of the most respected Thundervale druids. But she became obsessed with the idea of immortality and sought after it with a combination of druidic magic, and things she learned studying the ways of various witch covens. Her druidic kin considered this quest an affront to the natural world and, when she refused to stop, they destroyed her. Through vile magic she rose once more and now she stalks the Glaurdoom Moor, searching for the spell that will end her twilight of undeath and bring her back entirely.
The Celestial Healers trace their origins before even the founding of the Temple of Light, and claim to be the first disciples of the Goddess. Dedicated to using divine grace to heal wounds and cure disease, many Celestial Healers take strict vows of peace, swearing to only guard and preserve life. A Celestial Healer's vow should never be taken as a sign of weakness; though they never throw the first stone, they know how to finish a fight.
While most necromancers sever the intellect from their creations, a few risen are allowed to retain their knowledge and even personalities. Typically this is so they can serve as lieutenants, mages, or fulfill other skilled necessities in the necromancer's plan. Occasionally this backfires, and a Gloomborn Champion is born. Former Heroes, Gloomborn Champions fight free of the necromancer's control and escape their enslavement.
Coming Next Week! The Celestial Healer: a new Hero for Super Dungeon from the Masterclass Miniature line! Available June 13!!

Bushido Miniatures Game Review
I’m standing here, what feels like a katana in my chest, the bodies of my soldiers piled around me. I’m standing here defeated and absolutely delighted, a big grin on my face, trying to figure out what it’s doing there.
That was the end of my second play of Bushido by GCT Games – the actual impaling being only metaphorical, if you’re the queasy sort, but the defeat and delight being real. From my first encounter, what intrigued me about Bushido was that I found it immensely pleasurable even when I lost horribly. Let me try to explain why.
If the name and picture don’t make it apparent, Bushido is a tabletop skirmish game set in a world inspired by Japanese folklore, or at least a western, Tolkein-filtered riff on Japanese folklore. Elves and Dwarves are replaced by Tengu and Oni, the heroes include snake-people and warrior pandas, and the outfits look like the result of a raid on a Kurosawa film’s prop closet. All in the best possible way.

This increases the challenge and gives you more options for building your deck.

You can run these as is or just borrow from them for your homebrew game.
Star Trek Ascendancy Review
Star Trek Ascendancy is a 4X game full of space exploration and conflict in the Star Trek universe
VS 2PCG Legacy Expansion Review
Legacy is the third expansion for the VS 2PCG series. It adds new characters, plot twists and main characters for every released faction.
Alchemists The King’s Golem Expansion Review
The King’s Golem expansion adds a few different modules to the Alchemists board game. You can choose which to add to your game depending how much you want to change the base game.
Super Dungeon Explore Arena Review
Super Dungeon Explore Arena is an expansion that changes this game from a cooperative dungeon crawl to a two-player skirmish.
Terra Mystica App Review
Terra Mystica is an area control board game that is now available as an app for Android and iOS.
Tomb Trader Review
In Tomb Trader, you play as an adventurer on the hunt for treasure. Over a series of rounds, you’ll engage in intense negotiations with the other players in order to split the treasure cards amongst yourselves. If you can gather the most valuable treasure by the end of the game, you’ll emerge victorious.
Jaipur App Review
Jaipur is a trading card game for two players. “Trading for two? How does that make sense?” You say. Not an unfounded question.
It works by putting a set of 5 cards in the center of the table – that’s the Market. Technically, you trade with the market, not the other player. However, anything you put on the market naturally becomes available to the other player.
Board Game Quest:
Players in Bio-Logic are one of six foreign bodies invading a human: Amoeba, Virus, Parasite, Bacteria, Prion or ASP (Autonomous Strike Personnel – nanobots). Whose body it is doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that the player who improves the strength, resilience, and infection power of their invader enough will be able to survive a final battle against other invaders. The player whose infector wins the battle, wins the game.
Dragon Tower Review
In Dragon Tower, players must work together to rescue the princess from her prison tower. The game is actually played in two parts, with the first part having players build up a scaffolding alongside the tower. Once that is built, they must then quickly, and carefully, retrieve the princess before the dragon destroys all their hard work. If they can get the princess back to her carriage before the tower collapses, they’ll enjoy a shared victory.
Gnomi revolves around players controlling what appears to be a family of gnomes harvesting a specific group of mushrooms. Players use their mushrooms and gnome powers to steal mushrooms from one another. Once only one player remains with cards that can be activated, that player wins.
Zombie Tower 3D Review
In Zombie Tower 3D, you’re trapped in a building filled with zombies and you’ll be trying to save survivors, find various items, and, of course, escape. To make matters worse, the building is collapsing and limiting where characters can go. Players are not able to see the other characters are but you can talk and pass item cards through small gaps in the rubble. If all players are able to meet the escape conditions, then they all escape and have survived. The real winner though is the player with the highest VP from survivors and the Minor Objective Cards.

Some More Shots from the CMON Booth showing off some more of the new games
I mean, a lot of things going on at Gen Con can be listed as weird. But specifically, these photos are of Wyrd Games things.
Mantic Games' booth is compact, but also completely stuffed with their cool products. I grabbed some photos of their display cases as well as a demo of The Walking Dead (gonna try and actually sit down for a demo later).

Dark Souls demo
I was able to muscle my way up to a demo in progress for the Dark Souls board game at the Steamforged Games booth. It looked good. The boss is controlled by a deck of cards while the heroes are controlled by the players. The heroes lost while the boss had 1hp left!
CMON announces Rising Sun
Another big announcement coming out of Gen Con from CoolMiniOrNot. The team that brought you Blood Rage is back together with Rising Sun.
It is a spiritual successor to Blood Rage, so if you know the game, it will be a bit familiar. However, it is an entirely new gaming experience.

Lil' Cthulhu Review
Li’l Cthulhu is a press-your-luck game for 2 to 5 players, ages 6 and up, and takes about 30 minutes to play. It is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, with a $25 pledge for a copy of the game (or $30 for the game plus a bonus expansion). Note to parents: although the game is about Lovecraftian horrors, it’s all done in a funny, cute way, so there’s nothing too terrifying for younger players. Except Li’l Cthulhu’s diaper. I don’t even want to think about that.

Techno Bowl - A Game I Didn't Think I Needed
A look at the upcoming Techno Bowl from Bombshell Games.
Brent Spivey at the moment is an unknown name in the board game world. He's designed several excellent miniature game rule-sets including Havoc: Tactical Miniature Warfare, The Battlefield, and Rogue Planet. When I heard he was entering the board game world my eyebrows arched skyward like my 75 pound horse of a dog hearing the word "walk". When I discovered it was an 8-bit American Football game I was left dumbfounded, like my 75 pound horse of a dog trying to apply the Pythagorean Theorem to an obtuse triangle.

Rubicon's Opel Blitz Review
In this first of a series of reviews of Rubicon Models' 28mm (1/56th scale) World War 2 plastic vehicles kits, I take a look at the ubiquitous Opel Blitz truck.
As always this in-depth review contains large sprue pictures, the historical background, my experiences building and painting the model followed by a summary of my opinions on the kit.
Shut Up & Sit Down:
Arena Rex Review
I've spent the last few months working those pectorals and drenching myself in olive oil. Why? So that I can now sit shirtless at my computer for a proper review of Arena Rex.
But what IS Arena Rex? It's an excellent miniatures game of gladiator combat in a semi-mythological classical world, where your tiny team of just 3-5 fighters square off with their foes in a battle TO THE DEATH! Or, at least, to the filling of the last wound box and the removing of the little resin figure.
Go Phish (A Review of Black Hat)
Black Hat pits players against each other as hackers infiltrating a network, hopefully without leaving a trace of their transgressions. With a hand of cards essentially representing your hacking skills, you and others vie to win tricks in order to root into the network’s path laid out along the board. Spaces represent accounts, assets and cyber traps worth varying points, so some are better than others. While there is a final critical asset space triggering the endgame, its occupant doesn’t always signify the winner. Instead, whoever leaves the least evidence of their presence by occupying low-key spots and dumping high skill hacking cards will prove the ultimate black hat.
Board Game Quest:
Captain's Wager Review
I used to really enjoy playing card games of chance like Poker. There was no better feeling when you won the pot with a great hand or bluff. It’s harder now to find the time to get friends together to play given everyone’s schedules and “adult” responsibilities. So when I was offered the chance to play and review, Captain’s Wager, a hand management card game of chance from Grey Fox Games, I pounced on it. Does Captain’s Wager stand up to other games from my past or should you pass? Read on!
Captain’s Wager is a hand management card game for 2-5 players and plays between 25–30 minutes. Captain’s Wager plays best with 4-5 players.
T.I.M.E Stories: A Prophecy of Dragons Review
A Prophecy of Dragons is the second expansion, and therefore third adventure module for T.I.M.E Stories, and while T.I.M.E Stories remains one of my favourite games of 2015 and one of the best cooperative game experiences to date, A Prophecy of Dragons is by far the worst adventure for the system and its approach to rules and story threaten to undo all the great work accomplished by Asylum and The Marcy Case.
I will try and keep this review as spoiler free as possible; however some mild spoilers will come out in the discussion.

The set is a new $50 add-on for the campaign. It comes with three new bosses, some Creeps for them, and new cards. Specifically, the contents are:
* Ymnaur Wintersson - Dungeon Boss
* 6x Waystones - Creeps
* Nightsong the Eternal - Dungeon Boss
* 6x Kodeads - Creeps
* Mordred the Accursed - Dungeon Boss
* 6x Ghostflame Skulls - Creeps
* Classic and Arcade Game Cards
* 36x Explore Cards
* 18x Treasure Cards
Those that've played the game before know how much the boss can really affect the overall playing of the game. Entire strategies must be thought out for how those various bosses can be defeated.
The Super Dungeon Explore Kickstarter is set to run for the next 8 days.
First off, they're looking to create Super Dungeon Explore 2nd Edition. We got a lot of this in Forgotten King already, but now they're looking to have an original core set with the updated rules and mechanics. Then there's the Midnight Tower, Frostbyte Ravagers, and Crown Guard expansions. Quite a lot going on already. But the real big thing with the Kickstarter is Super Dungeon Legends. This really turns the adventure board game into an RPG experience. There's three handbooks to help you run your characters and for the Consul player to run the world and the monsters.
Really take your Super Dungeon campaign to the next level.
The campaign just launched and is already over their funding goal. So it's onward through stretch goals for the next 21 days.
Super Dungeon Legends can be used with both the Classic and Arcade modes for SDE, though it does work slightly differently between the two. Arcade will have characters go on pre-made scenarios for the dungeon, each one setting up the next in a continuous narrative. Classic mode is where Legends will really allow players to get the full range of customization.
Super Dungeon Legends will come in three books. There's the Hero Handbook which will (obviously) give you all the resources you need to play your heroes and upgrade them between sessions. The Consol's Grimoire gives you the tools to create your own scenarios and upgrade monsters. Finally, the Explorer's Guide gives you detailed information about all things Crystalia, from history to geography to biology.
The Midnight Tower expansion brings forth the armies of the Midnight Queen. These forces take into account the old saying, "If it ain't baroque, don't fix it." ... I think that's how that goes, anyway. Anyway, there's Nether Elves, Spider Speakers, and (of course) spiders (to speak to). But with new monsters comes new heroes to take them on. This expansion brings you the Hearthsworn Tincan, Cat Burglar, and Riftling Warrior.
But what about this Super Dungeon Legends that the title talks about? Well, that's sort of what all this is about. This rules set will bring progressive campaign play to the game. Sure, as it is, your heroes gain new loot as they make their way towards the dungeon boss. But now they'll be able to gain new abilities and take apart gear that's not so great and turn them into much more useful items. This will greatly expand what you're able to do with your Super Dungeon Explore sets.
Let us know what you've been getting up to with this great hobby of ours.
Being Saturday, we have our batch of review articles we've found over the week.

Eric: Welcome back to our survey of the world of miniatures wargames. This week, our game is Warmachine and Hordes. “But wait,” you might be thinking. “Eric, aren't those two games?”
Well, my imaginary interlocutor, sort of. Warmachine is a game about steam powered robots with smokestacks bigger than their legs, where wizards shoot spells out of pistols and your “warcaster” channels their willpower to bend the battlefield to their plans. Hordes, by contrast, is a game about lumbering monsters with fists bigger than their heads, where wizards shoot spells out of staffs and your “warlock” channels their rage to bend the battlefield to their plans.

The Witcher Adventure Game iOS Review
At Gen Con 2014, Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) showed off their upcoming board game The Witcher Adventure Game, based on the books and video games of the same name. Shortly thereafter, the board game made its way to our gaming tables. Overall it seems like The Witcher Adventure Game received a warm, yet still mixed reactions. Personally, I find it enjoyable, even if it does have some flaws.
At the same time as its cardboard release, FFG set The Witcher Adventure Game loose on our iPads for some digital gaming goodness. Today we are going to take a look at this digital release and see if it’s worth an investment of your gaming dollars.
The government has gone corrupt (shocking right?). No, not those clowns down in the state capitol, I’m talking about The Crown. They have finally taken things too far and the citizens in this Medieval city are preparing for a rebellion. Time to see if we can extend our influence enough throughout the city and lead this coming revolution.
Today we are going to be looking at Fidelitas, the first offering from new publisher Green Couch Games. Designed by veteran game designers Jason Kotarski (The Great Heartland Hauling Co, FrogFlip) and Philip duBarry (Revolution!), Fidelitas seeks to have players maneuvering citizens around town to achieve their hidden objectives. Is this quick playing game of medieval posturing fun or should it be given the axe. Let’s find out.
Fidelitas is a hand management card game for 2-4 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Fidelitas plays best with 2 players.
Distilling the Essence of a Game (A Review of Parfum)
Creating perfume was once a highly valued art form. Gifted perfumers often catered to the great and the good in society. They knew their customer’s favorite fragrances and took care to create exactly what those customers wanted. Those were the days before large commercial enterprises and modern technology started churning out mass-produced, lab-created fragrances that the perfume-wielding salesperson tries to hit you with every time you go to the mall. Parfum takes you back to that simpler time and lets you attempt to become that valued, master perfumer.

The Fiver With Dirk Knemeyer on Designing Tesla vs. Edison
Hi my name is Dirk Knemeyer and am from Granville, Ohio. For my day job I am a futurist at Involution Studios, which basically means I look at the world and technology and both predict what is going to happen and offer solutions to make the future better. In my free time I design and produce games through Artana.

If you would like to have those little heralds of spring on your models you can buy them in our webstore now.
But we will also give away a set or two ... or more :) for those of you who will like our recent post at our Facebook Fanpage. For every 100 likes I will randomly select one person who will receive this new release from us. I will post names of winners at Monday 9 March 2015 12:00 CET.
New 2mm Coastal Items From Brigade Models
We have more new items in our Small Scale Scenery range today. The first is another in our growing collection of coastal fortifications, Fort St Mawes. This small cloverleaf castle is a Device Fort, built by Henry VIII to protect the Carrick Roads near Falmouth, Cornwall.
And if we have something to defend our anchorage, what about the harbour itself ? So the second release is set of walls, ideal for making a medium sized fishing harbour.
All are available from the website now, and Pico Armor in the USA also have stocks.

Pretty Pretty Pictures & Shipping Update for Super Dungeon Explore
Today's post is going to be fairly short since our Heroes are really busy getting their equipment ready for a new dungeon adventure. Rumors of shadowy figures preying on travelers have made their way to Crystalia Castle and the King has ordered us to find the cause. Please note: shadowy does not mean ninja, at least not according to our old friends Merriam-Webster. Who wants to have brave Heroes fight shadowy ninjas with elemental powers anyway? Oh...lets, uh, go to production.

New Print-and-Play Cedar Mountain Board Game from Wargame Shop
This is the first of three games within the Northern Virginia Campaign of 1862 and the nineteenth game in our American Civil War in 3D Series. The Confederates under General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson have attacked the advancing Union army of General John Pope.
This is a quick and fun game to play, the Confederate have superior numbers but can the Union hold out?
It comes as a downloadable PDF version that you print and play, it includes counters, rules and even tile dice, so all you need is a printer. The rules are standard throughout the series and are easy to learn, this game takes only a few hours to play. The game board can be assembled in 3D to give a more realistic feel to the game, well worth the time and effort.

From our earliest years onward, fairytales have an enormous impact on our lives. They entertain us with the daring deeds of colorful heroes and villains. Inspired by the fairytale lore we’ve come to love, 12 Realms is a cooperative fantasy adventure board game from MAGE Company, letting whole families determine the fate of imaginative worlds where anything is possible.

Big Book of Bloodlines Kickstarter launches
The Big Book of Bloodlines seeks to continue this tradition of player agency by opening up new possibilities for the bloodrager and sorcerer base classes, as well as any other creations that just so happen to use bloodlines. Gravitating away from the stereotypical concepts of caster sorcerer and smashy bloodrager, The Big Book of Bloodlines provides flavorful options that are just powerful enough to get that bloodrager to seriously consider taking on support casting, item creation, area denial, summoning, or other roles not commonly associated with the class. By the same token, the sorcerer gains options that push it into new realms of gameplay and backstory.

In "Britt Shotte" a desperate lack of black powder leads to a last gasp race to steal some from a lone Orcish Commissariat trooper and his pack mule. Will the Orc lads of Captain Knoll Gallowsger reach an oasis of dry powder, or in a blur will Captaine Demone Augburrne reach the mule first?
Written by Gavin Syme, Alternative Armies'creative manager, the scenario was the first of a regular series that featured the then-current release of a special limited edition miniature, in this case the Albion Commissariat.

Soda Pop Updates About Super Dungeon Explore Shipping
Rip the Bandaid Off Quick, With Fire!
Rip it off on 3. Ready? 1 – 2 – The boat to the EU is not going to make it out before Chinese New Year.
Here are the details:
The boats to the European Union and Hong Kong will not be leaving before Chinese New Year. Unfortunately, this means a delay of 3 weeks for these backers. After Chinese New Year, we will reassess the schedule and determine if it is still beneficial to ship in 2 waves or return to 1 wave.
As a silver lining, we have noticed several EU backers worried about increased VAT fees with a split shipment. We have received assurances from our fulfillment center in Germany that backers in EU countries will have NO VAT fees. They are all covered by Soda Pop and is our reason for finding the fulfillment centers in the first place.
The boats with the containers for Australia, Canada, United States and United Kingdom are leaving on time, before Chinese New Year. Fulfillment of the Always Super Pledge (Core Game and Boo Booty Box) and Everything Box will begin as soon as they arrive to their respective warehouses.
It is important to note that right now the US west coast harbors are having labor disputes that have already caused one recent weekend strike and general “slow unloading” of container ships. Hopefully it is resolved by the time our ships arrive.
As we do every week, we will keep you posted on every phase. We no longer have any way of directly influencing these time tables, so we will all be hopping around in anticipation together.

As their experience grows they learn to tap the elemental magic of Kagejima, unlocking potent abilities to rival even the great Heroes.
