The Time We Have: A Two-Player Zombie TTRPG Launching on BackerKit October 29th

A new two-player tabletop RPG, The Time We Have: A Conversation Between Brothers, is set to debut on BackerKit on October 29th. This storytelling game explores the emotional complexities of family bonds in a post-apocalyptic setting, where one of the brothers has been infected with a zombie virus. Players will experience the final days of the infected sibling through conversations that delve into their shared memories, fears, and regrets.

The game is played with the two brothers seated on opposite sides of a closed door, a symbol of both the physical and emotional distance between them. Using a deck of tarot-sized cards, players take turns drawing prompts that guide the conversation. The focus is on the choices the brothers make as they process the impending loss, with the surviving sibling facing a final decision at the end of the game: whether or not to open the door.

The Time We Have draws inspiration from other storytelling games like Alice is Missing and For the Queen, as well as from zombie media such as The Last of Us and I Am Legend. The game’s creator was also influenced by his own experiences with his brothers, aiming to capture the unique emotions and complexities of sibling relationships.

Designed to create an intimate and reflective gaming experience, The Time We Have invites players to explore themes of brotherhood, loss, and survival in the context of a zombie apocalypse. The game’s mix of emotional storytelling and the tension of an apocalyptic setting offers a fresh take on the genre, providing players with an experience that blends horror with heartfelt personal connections. The Time We Have will be available on BackerKit starting October 29th.
